Dr. Vicki Oleson
Director
Dr. Vicki Oleson directs the Center for Teaching and Learning Mathematics (CTLM) at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). As CTLM Director, Vicki brings teams of researchers, educators, technology experts, and creative business partners together to develop and deliver high-quality learning experiences. Vicki’s current research and professional development foci are on improving elementary teachers’ content knowledge and pedagogical practice in the area of mathematics, and on supporting special needs teachers in closing the achievement gap for students with identified math needs.
From 1990 through 2004, Vicki taught elementary math and science. Vicki also taught mathematics education courses at UNI and collaborated in a variety of teaching, presenting, and publishing capacities with colleagues. In addition, Vicki facilitated summer school courses in Romania and also taught a variety of enrichment programs.
Vicki earned her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at UNI, her MAE in Curriculum and Instruction, and her BA in Elementary Education.
